“My name?”
Jiang Lai hesitated for a moment and didn’t give her full name, only vaguely mentioning her surname. “If you don’t mind, you can call me Jiangjiang Sister.”
“Jiangjiang Sister…”
It was still the same surname. Shen Ruxue felt like her emotions were about to go crazy.
Her thoughts scattered everywhere, and her already terrible mood instantly plummeted to rock bottom, sinking deep into a dark abyss.
It was as if she was entangled in water weeds, unable to struggle, unable to rise to the surface, unable to reach any conclusion that would bring her happiness.
Shen Ruxue was not as elegant and pure as she appeared on the surface; deep down, she was exceedingly hungry.
Yet this desire was not a physical craving, but a longing for emotional solace.
Shen Ruxue’s greatest hobby—or perhaps her greatest obsession—was witnessing Jiang Lai’s emotions.
She would be happy when Jiang Lai was happy, and excited when Jiang Lai was excited.
Deep in her heart, she wanted to see Jiang Lai’s comfortable expressions, to see her losing control, to see her breaking down in front of her.
She had imprinted every charming expression of Jiang Lai deep in her heart. No matter how much time passed, even after more than a decade, she would never forget.
But now, Shen Ruxue was confused.
The gender was different, the age was different, but in every other aspect, in mannerisms and actions, she was exactly the same as her Jiang Lai.
Shen Ruxue kept thinking. In an instant, she caught a very familiar scent from the older woman in front of her.
The scent was familiar, yet somewhat mixed and complicated.
Shen Ruxue gently took hold of Jiang Lai’s hand, the one holding the towel, stopping her from wiping the snow off her body.
The dry towel carried a faint coffee aroma, and her nose, still numb from the cold outside, dulled her sense of smell.
Only now did her nose begin to function properly, and so Shen Ruxue finally caught a trace of that once-familiar scent, one she had smelled countless times before.
In the past, it wasn’t just this kind of faint scent drifting from the body that she could smell.
She could also sense the unique scent that belonged to Jiang Lai from within her.
Whether it was strong or faint, she had experienced it all.
Shen Ruxue leaned forward, bringing the two of them much closer together.
As the distance closed, Jiang Lai’s fragrance became even more apparent.
Shen Ruxue quietly took several deep breaths, drawing Jiang Lai’s scent deep into her lungs.
This allowed her to smell the familiar body fragrance hidden beneath the woman’s thick down jacket.
This greedy action convinced her that the Jiangjiang Sister in front of her not only carried her Husband’s scent, but also the scent of her Younger Sister.
Jiang Lai had no idea why the girl in front of her was getting so close, but when she heard the obvious sound from the girl’s nose, her cheeks couldn’t help but flush with red.
Was there some strange smell on her? Why would a girl she’d just met deliberately come over to smell her?
Jiang Lai silently withdrew her hand, placed the dry towel by the girl’s side, gave her a few simple instructions, and left her spare Umbrella for her before quickly leaving the Coffee Shop.
After all, Jiang Lai couldn’t let her Younger Sister-in-law wait too long.
She had already told her Younger Sister-in-law before leaving that she’d bring her an Umbrella, and now she had wasted too much time elsewhere.
Given her Younger Sister-in-law’s personality, she was probably waiting expectantly for her reply the moment she sent a message.
Jiang Lai and Chi Yingyu had a unique sense of tacit understanding between them.
On ordinary days, they didn’t communicate much, and their daily interactions could even be described as a little bland and tasteless.
But it was this bland and tasteless daily life that made both of them feel at ease, making them both quietly grateful to have each other.
At least for Jiang Lai, sometimes just a few actions, or even just an expectation in her heart, was enough for her to guess what Chi Yingyu would do.
After Jiang Lai left the Coffee Shop, Shen Ruxue glanced at the Umbrella in her hand, then at the direction the woman had just left in.
It seemed she was headed toward her Younger Sister’s office.
Eager to learn about the relationship between the two, Shen Ruxue followed without hesitation.
The office’s heating was turned up high. Walking in wearing her thick down jacket, Jiang Lai actually felt a bit hot.
Just as she expected, Chi Yingyu was sitting at the office entrance waiting for her. For her Younger Sister-in-law, missing even a single glance at her seemed like a loss.
“Was it cold outside? Your cheeks are a little red.”
Chi Yingyu gently stroked Jiang Lai’s slightly cool neck.
Her Brother-in-law’s fair and delicate skin had been reddened by the cold weather—her nose, ears, and cheeks were all rosy and looked so kissable.
Usually, Chi Yingyu desperately wanted to leave clear red marks on her Brother-in-law.
As she spoke, Chi Yingyu used her warm hands to cover Jiang Lai’s icy cheeks. T
his easy intimacy was something the other office members were already used to.
After all, the two of them had been even more intimate when Jiang Lai visited before.
Chi Yingyu’s slender, warm fingers softly caressed Jiang Lai’s face, and she couldn’t help but whisper by her ear, “I’ll make sure you feel warm in a bit.”
Jiang Lai looked at her Younger Sister-in-law, who was trying to tease her with words, and took her hand off her face. “Why do you always say such nonsense?”
The moment Jiang Lai stepped through the door, Chi Yingyu had already sized her up from head to toe, finally settling her gaze on the only Umbrella in her hand.
“If there’s only one Umbrella, why don’t you get off work with me? We can share it on the way home.”
As she spoke, Chi Yingyu stood up and helped Jiang Lai remove her thick down jacket, which was inconvenient for movement, then took her Brother-in-law’s hand and led her straight into her own office.
This impatient behavior didn’t seem odd to the other people in the office, but to Shen Ruxue, who had been following behind Jiang Lai, it was filled with questions.
Why was her Younger Sister acting so clingy, as if her heart was entirely occupied by that woman?
Even as her Older Sister, she had never seen her act this way.
This was more like her own feelings for Jiang Lai—the kind where having only Jiang Lai was enough.
Her own Younger Sister had fallen in love with a woman, and that woman happened to be so similar to her Husband.
At this moment, Shen Ruxue felt a little sour in her heart.
Even though she would occasionally investigate her Husband and Younger Sister’s situation, she never looked into every detail.
In the end, there were still many things she didn’t know.
