Chapter 12: Childhood sweethearts

No wonder the nurses gossip so much, feel so much heartache, show such sympathy, and why so many young nurses are wandering outside. 

Turns out, this guy is so melancholic that he’s actually a little handsome.

Kaixin Min only now noticed this deeper reason, because just now, she almost got charmed herself.

” Cough cough~ “

But she quickly composed herself, faked a couple of coughs, and put on a cold, distant expression.

Li Zuhao didn’t react, still sitting on the hospital bed, lost in thought.

“Didn’t expect you to be the first one to visit me.” 

Li Zuhao joked.

“Don’t say such disgusting things.” 

Kaixin Min snorted coldly.

“I know why you’re here. This has nothing to do with you, I won’t say anything that could harm you, so you can rest easy.” 

Li Zuhao said.

Kaixin Min, upon hearing this, felt even more confused, even though those words should have put her at ease.

“Why did you try to hang yourself? You say it so nicely, but isn’t dying at this time just to cause me trouble? And you still say you aren’t trying to hurt me?” 

Kaixin Min mocked.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to commit suicide. It was an accident.” 

Li Zuhao apologized.

“Hmph, as if I’d believe you. I think you’ll blame it on me sooner or later.” 

Kaixin Min huffed.

“Then you can stay here and listen. I heard the Student Council people are already here, they’ll be taking my statement.” 

Li Zuhao said.

Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock at the door of the hospital room.

Before the patient inside could respond, the door was violently pushed open.

A group of Jihuang Academy students in custom-made, pure black uniforms barged into the room.

They skillfully drew the curtains, closed the door, and locked it tight.

These were the members of the Ji Huang Student Council.

“Unaffiliated personnel, please leave.” 

One member said to Kaixin Min.

“She’s my friend, and also my Witness. Ask whatever you want.” 

Li Zuhao said.

With those words, the Student Council members didn’t press further, acknowledging her presence and letting her stay in the room.

Kaixin Min stayed silent, crossing her legs on the stool by the bed, exuding an arrogant aura as she glared coldly at the Student Council members.

Her presence actually made the Ji Huang Student Council members restrain themselves a bit, making their questioning of Li Zuhao a little more formal and polite.

Because now, she was serving as the third-party [Witness].

Kaixin Min herself didn’t know why she was being so obedient. 

Actually, the best choice now would be to suck up to the Student Council.

But as a delinquent gyaru, she was naturally at odds with these order-keeping Student Council members.

So there was absolutely no way she was trying to help this scumbag!

“Everyone, please wait outside for a moment.”

The last to enter was a senior girl with straight black bangs and an aura of danger about her. 

She told the other Student Council members to leave; it was obvious she held a high position. 

She sat down on the other side of the bed, holding a black leather notebook.

“Hello, I’m Haotian Hui, Vice President of the Ji Huang Academy High School Student Council. Nice to meet you.” 

Vice President Haotian Hui smiled and shook hands with Li Zuhao.

“Hello, Vice President Hao.” 

Li Zuhao replied.

A gentle expression, a smile hiding a knife—this was his first impression of this woman.

But in Li Zuhao’s memory, he realized he had known this Vice President for a long time.

And it wasn’t just a simple acquaintance—they were childhood friends who had played together since they were young. 

They were both children of powerful families, so they naturally hung out together.

But his own parents outranked hers, so she was always timid around him.

However, thinking carefully, Li Zuhao realized he had never done anything truly despicable to Vice President Haotian Hui.

Their relationship had been fairly harmonious, barely considered friends.

The worst he’d done was sprinkle talcum powder in her hair when they were kids, and that was really it.

Compared to the nasty things he’d done to other girls, this was child’s play.

She was a year older than him and had entered high school earlier.

They’d been out of touch for quite a while.

Even after he entered high school, in just one semester he had become notorious as a scumbag, harassing almost every campus beauty.

But he had never harassed his former childhood friend.

“It was all a misunderstanding. I never intended to commit suicide, I just passed out from lack of oxygen when my tie tightened around my neck. Luckily a good neighbor saved me. It’s all just rumors……” 

Li Zuhao explained in a very official manner.

But just then, with a click, the hospital room door opened again, interrupting him.

Two more women entered to visit.

Since the door had been locked by the Student Council, the newcomers were obviously allowed in.

The visitors were none other than Sword Club Ace Sakiharu Wen, and School Nurse Teacher Chen.

Teacher Chen was actually here to evaluate Li Zuhao as his psychological counselor.

But she was technically an unrelated party, just here for her job.

The other three girls, however, each had their own motives, surrounding Li Zuhao’s hospital bed and crowding the small room.

Li Zuhao felt that when they all gathered together, the room’s light dimmed, the air twisted, and the space grew dark.

The three beauties sized each other up, and the faint shadows of ghosts flickered behind them.

He even wondered if he was hallucinating from temporary oxygen deprivation to the brain.

“Vice President Hao, I’m Teacher Chen, here to provide psychological counseling for this student. The one accompanying me is Sword Club Vice Captain Sakiharu Wen.”

Teacher Chen didn’t notice anything strange, still introducing herself.
