The White Dragon Girl continued chopping wood, building a circle of fencing around the area to keep wild beasts from invading.
Although she felt this was entirely unnecessary.
She was the White Dragon King, after all. What beast would dare invade? It would be nothing but courting death.
But Sadam insisted she build a fence, claiming it would make her feel safer at night.
As if sleeping in my arms wasn’t safe enough! Does she want to wander around outside at night?
It had already been a month since she transformed into a girl.
They still hadn’t made contact with anyone.
The White Dragon Girl had already finished building a second wooden house, to use as a warehouse.
She now wore a full set of Beast Hide Armor and a Bearskin Cloak, wrapping herself up tightly.
Her body was for her wife’s eyes only, not even the little animals in the deep forest could take a peek.
“Ugh~ I’m a bit sleepy.”
Sadam yawned, wearing a patched-up beast hide skirt, leisurely fishing while sitting on a large rock by the stream.
She no longer needed to be as busy as before. Now, she had so much free time that she needed fishing just to pass the hours.
Their temporary residence was complete, and food was plentiful and endless.
Sadam had even built a Meat Smoking Box.
Any leftover meat was smoked and dried inside, allowing it to be preserved for a long time.
They had already stored quite a bit of smoked meat—enough to last them a while.
The White Dragon Girl was strictly forbidden from going out hunting too often, to avoid unnecessary killing.
Sadam had even made a bunch of furniture that wasn’t really needed, simply because she couldn’t find anything else to do.
The Wild Survival Phase was over. Now, they could enjoy a secluded life and quietly wait for the Dragon Egg to hatch.
“Boing~ boing~”
The White Dragon Girl came up behind Sadam, resting her two large milk bags on Sadam’s head.
“What are you doing?” Sadam’s face was instantly covered in black lines, her neck straining under the weight.
“Hello, good morning, good noon, good afternoon, good evening.” The White Dragon Girl chanted greetings as if reciting a spell, her words making little sense.
Actually, she was learning the Human Race’s language, which Sadam was teaching her.
In terms of language learning progress, the White Dragon Girl was advancing at a miraculous pace.
Just a month ago, she could only say interjections, but now she could greet others fluently.
“What time is it now?”
“Hello, good morning, good noon, good afternoon, good evening.”
“……”
But the White Dragon Girl had no flexibility, only parroting what she’d memorized, leaving Sadam speechless.
“Move your melons off my head. Are you mocking me?”
Sadam headbutted the White Dragon Girl away, losing all interest in fishing.
She packed up her fishing rod, her expression turning serious as she asked, “Hey, can you teach me Magic?”
“You’re a knight, how can you learn Magic?” The White Dragon Girl suddenly retorted with a straight face.
“How could I be a knight in this state? I can only learn Magic to protect myself. Also, why are you speaking so fluently now? You really were messing with me before, weren’t you?”
“As long as I’m here, I can protect you. I won’t let anything hurt you.”
“You know my personality well. If I had to rely on someone else to protect me, I’d rather bash my head in and die. And you still haven’t answered my question.”
“Human Magic and Dragon Magic are completely different. We Ancient Dragons are born able to control Mana and wield Dragon Breath. I can’t teach you. If you want to learn Magic, you’ll have to find a fellow Human Race Mage.”
“You’re White Dragon King Xisi, also known as the Dragon of Arcane, the Abyss of Mana, and the Dragon King Who Touched the Source of Magic. You’re a mage among Ancient Dragons, and you can’t even teach me?”
“If you find a Human Race Magic Book, I can help you interpret it so you can study on your own. I can’t teach you to use Dragon Breath, can I? You don’t have the organs to store or release Dragon Breath, so you can’t learn it, you can’t cast it.”
“……”
Sadam fell into deep thought.
The White Dragon Girl resumed her lazy, mischievous attitude, circling around Sadam and occasionally teasing her, acting extremely playful.
Sadam didn’t react, lost in thoughts about their future.
“We’ll definitely have to leave here and travel someday. But I can’t be a burden who can’t even fight a chicken.”
The only way she could think of was to learn Magic.
But it was certain that she’d never achieve much in Magic.
Traditional mage families began training their mages from childhood, condensing Mana early on.
A self-taught wild mage could never catch up to those family mages who started ahead.
But she never intended to master Magic anyway.
Learning the basics, enough for self-defense, would suffice.
“I can teach you how to condense Mana,” the White Dragon Girl said.
“Really?” Sadam snapped out of her own little world at once.
“Beginner lessons—should be the same for both Dragons and the Human Race, right?”
“Thank you, but can you answer why you’re suddenly speaking so fluently?”
“Abba abba~”
From that day on, the White Dragon Girl began teaching Sadam the most basic Magic initiation step—Feel.
The method was simple: sit cross-legged on the large stone by the stream every day, meditate, and Feel the flow of Magic Elements.
But after dozens of days passed…
Aside from her legs going numb, Sadam didn’t Feel a thing.
Still, she didn’t give up, because if everyone could master Magic in just a few dozen days, the whole world would be full of mages.
At night…
Sadam curled up in the White Dragon Girl’s arms.
“You don’t seem to mind being like this at all,” Sadam asked.
The White Dragon Girl was already fast asleep, hugging her tightly, and didn’t answer.
“What do you think about the Surpreme Sage’s Forbidden Spell? Is there a way to break it?” Sadam pressed on.
“This is actually a Transformation Curse. It doesn’t affect my power much—just changes my appearance.”
“I don’t know what price the Surpreme Sage paid to curse us. The simpler the curse, the harder it is to break. The less it affects you, the harder it is to dispel.”
“My power hasn’t weakened, but I can’t change back. The only way to break it is probably to find the caster themselves. Even if they die, it might not be lifted.”
The White Dragon Girl slowly woke up and explained seriously in Sadam’s ear.
“So contradictory,” Sadam sighed.
“That’s Magic… grrrr~” The White Dragon Girl started snoring as she spoke.
“Dragons really are such carefree, optimistic creatures. Sigh, if I were as strong as her, I could be carefree too.” Sadam sighed again and had no choice but to go to sleep.
But she hadn’t been asleep for long before her eyes snapped open.
Because Sadam suddenly Felt the flow of Mana!
Though it wasn’t very clear, it looked like the air was covered in streaks of rainbow auroras.
Was this Mana?
But all the Mana was gathering into the body of the one behind her, being devoured in one gulp.
So the White Dragon Girl could absorb Mana automatically even while sleeping.
No wonder she was so strong!
Wasn’t this automatic leveling up?!
“So shameless! Ancient Dragon!” The more Sadam thought about it, the angrier she got.
