“As long as I’m still alive, I’ll definitely protect Tang Wanyue, but… should I tell her my name or not…”
He really couldn’t bring himself to say it. That heartfelt confession letter with thousands of words was still deeply imprinted in his mind!
Tang Cheng leaned back on the sofa, tilting his head up to gaze at the Crystal Chandelier above him, quietly lost in thought. But at that moment, his vision suddenly darkened, as if he’d gone blind all of a sudden.
“What’s going on? Am I just too tired…”
He rubbed his right eye, but when he opened them, his vision was nothing but a blur. He couldn’t see anything around him. Even the massive chandelier overhead had turned into a few indistinct patches of light.
“My… my eyes!”
He couldn’t see a thing. It felt like his pupils were constantly dilating.
His heart!
Right then, his heart began to twist in intense pain!
“Ah…”
He collapsed in agony onto the table in front of him. The teacup on the table immediately fell and shattered on the ground. Clutching his chest with both hands, a wave of unbearable pain swept through every inch of his body.
“So this is finally…”
“Is this when I turn into a zombie…”
He fell to the floor, curling up as his body convulsed violently. His body alternated between chills and fever, and the veins in his arms kept swelling and shrinking. The Zombie Virus in his body seemed to be rampaging, jumping wildly inside him!
With every beat of his heart, it felt like his consciousness was being swallowed a little more.
Tang Cheng had seen this before. After those two Prisoners were bitten to death by zombies, their bodies convulsed just like this, and in the end, they became zombies themselves!
Even though he’d always known this moment would come, now that death was truly upon him, he couldn’t help but feel some regret.
If he’d known, he would have told Tang Wanyue his name. He’d already written her that confession letter, so why didn’t he have the courage to say his name out loud?
His body kept convulsing, his temperature dropping rapidly, and in the end, his consciousness began to blur.
“Tang Wanyue, don’t come over here…”
His vision was swallowed by darkness completely!
A whole day and night passed.
“Hey… are you… are you alright?” It seemed like someone was calling out to him.
In his blurry vision, he saw what looked like a long-haired figure standing a little ways off by the door, slowly approaching.
“Uhh uhh…” His throat made a dry, raspy sound. In a daze, Tang Cheng crawled toward that figure by the door. But now, he was on all fours, staggering, with his rotting left cheek—he looked exactly like a zombie crawling on the ground, ready to attack a human.
Plus, he was starving. Tang Cheng lifted his head, his shriveled throat letting out strange groans, “I… so… hungry… I want to eat so badly…”
“Ahhh! Don’t eat me!” The blurry figure at the door screamed and immediately fled outside.
“So hungry… for bread! Uhh…” Tang Cheng weakly lifted a hand, staring after the fleeing figure, and then collapsed once again on the ground, unconscious.
Another day and night passed.
The third day.
His body temperature finally returned to normal. Lying on the floor, Tang Cheng finally opened his eyes. Above him was that familiar Crystal Chandelier, still shining so brilliantly, filling him with hope.
“Did I… survive?”
He wearily pushed himself up to sit, looking around at the unchanged surroundings. His stomach was growling, and his body felt weak, but thankfully, his human consciousness was still intact. It looked like he hadn’t turned into one of those man-eating zombies.
He really thought he was done for this time, but somehow, he’d come back from the dead!
“But… I feel like someone was here…”
He had a strange feeling that while he was unconscious, someone had come into the shop. But his head hurt, and he couldn’t remember clearly.
“So hungry…”
First things first, he needed to fill his stomach. He staggered into the kitchen—there were still some frozen snacks in the fridge.
