“Are you alright now?”
Su Mu put her hands on her hips, raising one eyebrow as she looked at Ye Wanqing.
Only now did she notice how unusual the other’s outfit was.
Staring at the bizarre patterns crisscrossing Ye Wanqing’s clothes, Su Mu couldn’t help but suspect she was still in a dream.
“Kuku, I am the great Karamiti! How could anything happen to me? But you—how did you get a key to my house? Don’t tell me you’re a little thief after my immense wealth!”
Su Mu gazed at Ye Wanqing with dead eyes.
‘What on earth are you talking about?’
After a brief silence, Su Mu steadied her unconsciously tilted head, then reached out and grabbed Ye Wanqing’s soft, bouncy cheeks, stretching them out long.
“Ah! Ouch, ouch, ouch! You vile little thief, what are you doing? How dare you show disrespect to the great Karamiti…”
“The whole adolescent delusions act is out of style. Get serious, will you? I was genuinely worried about your injuries, and this is how you repay me?”
Even though Ye Wanqing was taller than Su Mu, she retreated step by step under Su Mu’s onslaught, and was eventually pulled by the cheek all the way to the sofa, where she plopped down with a thud.
“Don’t go too far! Just because I’m good-tempered doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want! If you don’t let go, I’ll burn you to ashes!”
At that, Su Mu finally let go of Ye Wanqing, though it seemed the latter still had no intention of acting normal.
“What’s wrong with you? Did your brain get fried by Dark Magic Power or something?”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Su Mu regretted them, covering her mouth in guilt.
After all, Ye Wanqing’s injuries were her fault—joking or not, it was a bit much.
But Ye Wanqing acted like she had no memory of any of that.
“Dark Magic Power? What Dark Magic Power? Are you referring to my supreme bloodline power? Calling it something so lowly shows a lack of respect, don’t you think?”
Su Mu clenched her fist, and the guilt she’d just felt vanished instantly.
She bit her lip, at a loss for words.
‘Supreme bloodline? Lack of respect? Where did she come up with this stuff?’
“So who are you supposed to be right now? What’s this ‘great Karamiti’ business?”
“Hmph! I am the mighty Red-Eyed Gaze, Shadow of Chaos—Demon King Karamiti!”
Watching Ye Wanqing, arms crossed and chest out in a pose she thought was cool, standing like a child on the coffee table, Su Mu was utterly speechless.
“Hold on.”
She took out her handheld device and called Tang Nai.
“Hoho, you actually remembered to call me? Let’s see, at this hour, you must’ve just woken up and discovered that Luo Jialan has already left, so now you’re leaving regretfully, huh? How’d you sleep last night? Oh wait, you probably only slept at dawn today, right? I bet you watched the sunrise, Little Lando sure is energetic, right, right?”
Listening to Tang Nai ramble, Su Mu’s mouth twitched slightly, ‘Since when did this girl talk so much?’
But she didn’t care about any of that right now; she was more concerned about Ye Wanqing.
“Enough, enough, none of that’s important. I want to ask about Ye Wanqing—she’s acting really weird, do you know why?”
Hearing Su Mu’s helpless tone, Tang Nai’s excitement faded a little, but she still didn’t get serious.
It seemed yesterday’s events had left her in a peculiar mood.
“Oh, oh, I know, you mean Little Miti, right? That’s your fault, you know! You gave her so much that she almost broke down completely—I worked so hard just to get her to barely recover to this state. But in a way, it’s actually a good thing for her…”
“Stop, stop, slow down—no, just get to the point! Skip the parts I don’t understand. What’s actually wrong with her?”
“Uh, to put it simply, you could say she has amnesia. More precisely, her personality has regressed.”
“Huh?”
Su Mu glanced at Ye Wanqing in astonishment, thinking it over.
‘If Ye Wanqing lost her memory and turned into this childish, adolescent delusional type, it would sort of make sense. But what did Tang Nai mean by ‘personality regression’?’
“Simply put, after coming into contact with trauma she’d suffered before, her brain reverted her personality back to before the trauma, to lessen the pain. This way, she can temporarily forget that hurt.”
“So this isn’t her first time being harmed by Dark Magic Power.”
On the other end, Tang Nai sounded quite pleased.
“Good comprehension! As far as I know, the last time she suffered Dark Magic Corruption was back in middle school—just like you’re seeing her now: super adolescent delusions. So you don’t have to worry about hurting her anymore. On the contrary, you can scold her as much as you like—right now she’s just a disobedient little brat deep in adolescent delusions. Just imagine you’re her mom and give her some proper discipline!”
“Hey, what if she really gets mad and burns me to ashes?”
Su Mu still remembered the terror of Ye Wanqing’s flames.
Back then, even a spark had scared her half to death—this girl wasn’t just bluffing.
“Oh, you’re worried about that? Don’t be. She hasn’t replenished her magic, and without her memories as a Magical Girl, she can’t use her powers. There’s no way she could burn you up—though she might manage a puff or two of fire.”
Hearing this, Su Mu eyed Ye Wanqing warily and thought, ‘This girl is still standing carelessly on the coffee table, oblivious to the disaster about to strike.’
Of course, Su Mu wouldn’t do anything extreme, but the little brat didn’t realize her body wasn’t as light as she remembered.
The coffee table was an old antique—the glass top was already strained, and now, with her standing on it, it could give way at any second.
The next moment, with a sharp crack, the glass shattered, and Ye Wanqing suddenly dropped down, losing her balance and tumbling into a pile of shards.
Her backside was soon covered in bleeding scratches.
Su Mu froze, not even saying goodbye to Tang Nai on the phone, and rushed to help Ye Wanqing, keeping her from struggling and getting more glass stuck in her.
“It hurts! Wait, who said you could help me? I’m not afraid of glass, you know… mmph!”
Before she could finish, Su Mu had flipped her onto the sofa.
Ye Wanqing’s perky backside was trembling pitifully, making Su Mu’s heart ache a little.
“Don’t move.”
Su Mu didn’t bother soothing her, instead taking out her handheld device to scan Ye Wanqing’s condition.
‘Treating this kind of injury is a hassle, but I’ve got one-key modification!’
