“Let me go right now! I have to hurry and save Windsor!”
In the corridor of the Demon Castle.
Lantis’s lower body had already transformed into a serpent’s tail, her delicate and smooth purple scales sliding forward atop the crimson carpet.
Trailing behind her, tightly bound by the tail and suspended midair, was Mo Zhi.
She cursed and struggled, bristling with rage, but the tail wrapped around her wasn’t just firm—it was icy cold.
The chill seemed to siphon her strength bit by bit, until at last she didn’t even have the energy to shout.
“Beloved consort, you may as well shout a little more. Just don’t blame me for not cherishing you when you’re out of energy in bed,” Lantis said with a tone both pleased and teasing.
“You—!”
Mo Zhi squeezed out her last protest, then ran out of strength altogether.
Lantis carried her to a door.
The moment it opened, a thick, intoxicating fragrance wafted over Mo Zhi’s cheeks.
The scent belonged to Lantis herself—stronger and more alluring than what lingered in the study.
Yet, as it reached Mo Zhi’s nostrils, it felt like a malicious spirit gnawing at her soul, instinctively making her recoil.
Lantis carelessly combed through the thousands of dark strands trailing behind her, then slowly slid off her gauzy robe, leaving only a piece of undergarment that barely covered her chest, threatening to spill over.
Her fair, flawless skin was bared to the air.
She drew her hair forward over her right shoulder, revealing the jade-like nape of her neck, which had been hidden beneath her tresses, right before Mo Zhi’s eyes.
Lantis looked back, lips curling into a faint smile, her gaze tinged with a hint of rosy allure.
“Beloved consort, take off that robe as well, or it’ll be far too dirty to get into bed.”
Though she said this, Lantis clearly had no intention of offering a choice.
Her nimble tail slithered up to the collar of Mo Zhi’s robe, and with just a few flicks, stripped away all her clothing, leaving her in a simple cloth undergarment.
Compared to Lantis’s voluptuous curves, Mo Zhi was much more slender.
Her skin was pale with a rosy glow, her waist slim enough for one hand to encircle, her chest showing a delicate trace of rib beneath the soft swell—not flat, but adorably rounded, just the right size to fit a palm.
This slender, graceful figure made her appear as light and willowy as a branch, yet not lacking in elegant curves.
“Who said you could take my clothes off!”
Usually, only Windsor ever saw her so exposed.
Now, this person had practically seen everything.
Mo Zhi felt utterly humiliated, her shame threatening to swallow her whole.
Lantis let out a light laugh. With a casual flick of her tail, she flung Mo Zhi onto the soft, spacious bed.
At last, the tail unwound from her body.
Mo Zhi planned to seize the chance to escape, but before she could even move, another wave of that rich scent pressed down on her.
“Where do you think you’re going? Beloved consort~”
Lantis nearly pressed herself onto Mo Zhi, her serpent’s tail wrapping both of Mo Zhi’s legs together, immobilizing her completely.
Her hands pinned Mo Zhi’s wrists to either side of her head, locking her down once more.
Lantis leaned in, her face drawing close.
Countless black strands fell across Mo Zhi’s cheeks, warm breaths mingled with the scent of red wine and roses, caressing Mo Zhi’s flushed skin.
In that moment, Mo Zhi felt like prey caught in a serpent’s coils, her body unknowingly numbed by venom.
Powerlessness welled up in her heart, while the serpent watched her feeble struggles with a mocking gaze—waiting for its prey to be completely exhausted before devouring it whole.
“You… you can’t do that to me right now, remember? It’s not time yet!”
Clutching at her last straw, she blurted out desperately.
Mo Zhi knew that, no matter how unruly this person was, when it came to rules set by the previous Demon King, she would always abide by them—though sometimes she might look for loopholes.
Sure enough, the moment Lantis heard her words, her smile vanished, replaced by a look of disinterest.
“Beloved consort, you really know how to ruin my mood.”
But she still didn’t get off Mo Zhi.
Instead, as if something came to mind, the teasing smile returned to her face.
“Beloved consort, how about playing a little game with me? I’ll ask a question. If you answer correctly, I’ll let you go. But if you get it wrong…”
As she spoke, her red lips drew near to Mo Zhi’s ear.
Her breath was fragrant as she whispered, “Then you’ll never leave again.”
“Who wants to play your game! Let me down now! Or else…”
“Or else? What can beloved consort do to me? Leave a plum blossom mark on my face with those soft little claws of yours?”
“Or else…”
Mo Zhi fell silent—she really had no way to do anything to this person.
After all, the difference in strength was obvious.
“Fine, ask. What’s the question?”
Seeing Mo Zhi finally compromise, Lantis covered her mouth and chuckled lightly.
Then she asked, “What do you really feel about that little sister of yours?”
How did she feel about Windsor?
What could she feel?
Windsor was a friend, more than that—she was family, the only one who truly understood her, the only one before whom she could be her true self.
“Windsor is my family, the one I love most and rely on most. That’s all.”
“The one you love most…?”
Lantis murmured, her eyes suddenly growing cold.
“Then, beloved consort, do you know what she feels for you?”
“What could it be? I’m sure Windsor feels exactly the same as I do!”
“Oh my, what a shame. Beloved consort, you got it wrong.”
“What?”
Mo Zhi was confused and a bit irritated.
“Then tell me—what else could my sister possibly feel?”
“Yes, what else could it be?”
As she spoke, Lantis suddenly cupped Mo Zhi’s face, her gaze icy and mocking.
“Have you ever truly looked into her eyes? Noticed the desire buried deep within? That longing is just like mine, equal to my own hunger—it’s jealousy, festering with hatred, with the urge to kill. Did you ever notice even a bit of it?”
Mo Zhi was stunned by her words.
Jealousy?
The urge to kill?
Desire?
Were these Windsor’s feelings for her? What a joke!
Windsor was such a kind-hearted girl, always gentle and untroubled by the world.
She had hardly ever seen Windsor lose her temper, let alone harbor any hatred or murderous intent.
“Windsor would never be like that. I know her!”
Mo Zhi retorted loudly, only to be met with a disdainful snort.
“Desires can be buried very, very deep—so deep even the person herself might forget… Beloved consort, you’ve never been able to see the desire in others’ eyes. In that, you’re not even close to what you once were.”
“When ‘Potion’ is stopped for a long time, all the pent-up longing will explode. Then, the body will become uncontrollable, as if drunk on something… Perhaps, beloved consort, your sister is off somewhere, doing something indecent to your face right now.”
On that matter, Lantis spoke from her own experience.
“Some—something indecent?! I won’t let you insult my sister like that!”
Lantis didn’t want to continue.
What she wanted was to see Mo Zhi’s reaction upon learning that her sister harbored desire for her.
But if she refused to believe, then the topic could only end in boredom.
“Don’t hate me, beloved consort. I’m saving you… One day, her jealousy will destroy her, will destroy everyone around you—including you. She’s the one you should fear most, not… me.”
Lantis’s eyes slowly drooped, her speech halting.
As the final word fell, she closed her eyes completely, wrapping Mo Zhi tightly in her arms like a doll and drifting into a deep sleep.
Mo Zhi wanted to say something more, but her strength was draining again.
Exhaustion flooded her mind, and before long she quietly closed her eyes, breathing steadily as she fell into sleep…
